Mixing UHPC Concrete - A simple process

A real UHPC (Ultra High Performance Concrete) 
consists of a maximum of three components:

• UHPC binder
• Water
• Aggregates, such as quartz sand with a grain size of 0-3 mm

Nothing else is necessary. No further additives.

UHPC concrete of exceptional quality is an
easy-to-manufacture material, provided you have
the right high quality components. For more than
25 years our UHPC Mortar, UHPC Cast, and

UHPC Shotcrete have been mixed by specialists

and amateurs around the world.

 
Let's start with the most important thing, the mixer.
We need a compulsory, pan-pot or shaft mixer for
small to medium UHPC concrete volumes.
For larger UHPC concrete quantities, the use of

continuous mixer is recommended.

If you are not sure whether your mixer is suitable

for processing please contact us, we will be happy

to help you.

1st operation
Mix UHPC binders and aggregates, such as quartz
sand, in a proportion of one bag of binder (25 kg)
and one bag of quartz sand (25 kg) dry for
approx. 3 minutes.

2nd operation
Add water, add approx. 3.8 liters per 25 kg UHPC
binder and mix for at least 7 minutes.

3rd operation
Install the material. For the installation by a average
ambient temperature of 18° - 25° you have about
45 minutes time.

4th operation
Seal the newly laid surface with a suitable wax liquid
such as UHPC curing compound or a suitable foil.

That's it.

All our UHPC materials are mixed in this way. If you 
have mixed one UHPC material quality, you can mix 
all other UHPC material qualities as well.

More and more manufacturers of outdoor furniture

are discovering UHPC concrete as the perfect

material for their existing furniture designs and for

completely new furniture designs that can not be

realized with standard concrete.

removed from the mold in less than 24 hours.

UHPC Wear protection for an ore pallet plant in Bahrain

We have an order to supply and install a UHPC wear protection liner in a new grinding system at an ore processing plant in Bahrain. The new grinding system was designed and delivered by a large German plant manufacturer.

UHPC wear protection was specified by this plant manufacturer as wear protection for his system.

The contract included the lining of pipelines, cyclones and separator systems. The assembly of a 25 mm / 1 inch UHPC wear protection liner with a total area of over 600 sq / 6450 sq ft was performed by a local installation company under the supervision of one of our supervisors.

24 hours after the individual plant elements were lined, they could be mounted in the ore processing plant.

Standards erzeugen Standards und keine freie Kreativität in Konstruktion und Design.

Ursprünglich wurden UHPC Produkte unter dem Projektnamen „Ultra hochfeste Binder“ entwickelt, was auch der Grund für diese Entwicklung war – es solllte ein extrem druckfesten Binder für einen extrem hochfesten Beton entwickelt werden. Die Bezeichnung „Ultra hochfester Binder“ ist unserer Meinung nach eine sehr eindeutige und klare Materialbezeichnung für jedermann.

Irgendwann in der Vergangenheit ist in der technischen Literatur und an den Universitäten der Begriff „UHPC Ultra High Performance Concrete“ benutzt worden und hat insbesondere bei den Anwendern erhebliche Verwirrung gestiftet. Wie kann man den Begriff „Performance“ weltweit technisch klar und eindeutig erklären? Es funktioniert nicht - jeder versteht unter den Begriff „Performance“ etwas anderes.

Inzwischen werden zudem international in der technischen Literatur immer neue Variationen und Abkürzungen für UHPC verwendet. Praktische Anwender wie Architekten, Bauunternehmer und Designer verlieren den Überblick und den Sinn dieser Bezeichnungen.

Hier möchten wir allen Nutzern und Interessenten helfen sich in diesem Dschungel der Abkürzungen und Materialqualitäten zurechtzufinden.

Da der Begriff UHPC von DIN oder ASTM weltweit nicht eindeutig definiert ist, können heute eine Vielzahl von Materialherstellern ihre Produkte unter dem Namen UHPC vertreiben. Viele der angebotenen Produkte haben mit der ursprünglichen Idee vom „Ultra hochfesten Binder“ nur noch sehr wenig zutun.

Unsere praktischen Erfahrungen aus den letzten 30 Jahren mit hochdruckfesten Bindersystemen wollen wir weltweit jedem Anwender und Interessenten zur Verfügung stellen.

UHPC Wear- and corrosion protection for all pipe dimensions

UHPC linings of all kinds of pipes inside and
out was one of our first major projects more
than 25 years ago. The pipes should be
permanently protected against wear and
corrosion with UHPC under the toughest
conditions. First of all, pipes for pneumatic
material delivery lines in the cement industry
were lined. After that, pneumatic and hydraulic
pipelines for the coal-fired power plant industry
and the steel industry were lined. Later came
the offshore industry and the wastewater
industry. We lined pipes of any diameter from
40mm / 1,57inch to 8000mm / 315inch. Here,
the geometry played no major role, so
whether Y-piece, pipe bend, reducer, etc.

The huge advantage of UHPC over all liners at
that time was the seamless lining, the flexibility
in layer thicknesses, the variations in material
quality and the very high wear and corrosion
resistance for a very long service life. Even
today, pipes are in use that were lined 25 years
ago with UHPC.
Today, new pipe systems are lined with UHPC
or existing pipe systems are repaired with UHPC
material. It makes only a very small difference
whether they are concrete or steel pipes.

We use UHPC mortar, UHPC castable and
UHPC shotcrete as lining material. UHPC
Rapid material grades are used for extremely
fast repairs.

In the offshore industry, UHPC is used both
as the inner and outer lining of pipelines.
UHPC can also be used underwater. A 15mm
or 0,6inch thick UHPC coating is waterproof
and absolutely corrosion resistant. A UHPC-
lined offshore structure no longer requires
regular corrosion protection coatings. UHPC
is used today as a material for offshore
constructions and offshore foundations
worldwide.

For some years, we use high temperature resistant
UHPC material in the steel industry. Hot gas
temperatures up to more than 1000°C / 1832°F
are no problem here. We also coat hot gas pipe
system with a combination of UHPC and high
performance insulation. This makes it possible
to dispense with stainless steel as a construction
material, which in turn reduces costs enormously.


Wastewater pipelines, storm water drains, storm
water storage systems road drainage systems,
sewage systems and culverts whether made of
steel or concrete, can be easily repaired with
UHPC. It is not necessary to clean the
construction of rust before you start with the
lining. With UHPC Shotcrete, larger pipelines
can be quickly and permanently repaired. Due
to the extremely low rebound of less than 3%,
special cleaning work in the pipeline is not
necessary.

Smaller repairs can be done quickly with UHPC
mortar or UHPC Cast. As UHPC materials
exceed the compressive strength of all standard
concretes by more than once, steel and concrete
pipelines are more resilient after a complete repair.
