UHPC special concrete for construction of floating cities

Floating architecture is becoming increasingly important in our world with rising sea levels. It has a direct impact on island states and major coastal cities. They are all extremely vulnerable.

Today, architects are designing plans for so-called floating cities, but unfortunately they are very often based on steel constructions or standard concrete constructions that are very vulnerable to salt water in the long run. Floating cities are designed as modules and cannot simply be towed to the nearest dry dock for repairs. The international architectural offices have still not understood that constructions made of UHPC concrete have a life expectancy of +100 years without regular inspections or repairs.

Floating structures are generational projects. Today's designers and builders should be very aware of this when choosing materials.                    ber@wpe-dk.dk
